Does The Islamic Creed Validate Three Divergent Creeds

Shibi zaman says The Islamic theological creeds or "`Aqa'id" that people divide themselves over today were at one time a source of protection from the influences of various philosophies the Muslims encountered as their domain spread at an unprecedented rate unseen in history before it.  As Hellenic philosophies crept into the theological creeds of the Muslims, just as had occurred with the Jews and Christians before them, the works of the Atharis, Ash`aris and Maturidis against the Aristotelianism of the Mu`tazilis and other groups saved Sunnism. Today, Aristotelianism isn't a threat to the Muslim world and hasn't been for hundreds of years. Neo-Atheism, Darwinism and Materialism are just some of the challenges the Muslims face for which no Ahmad Ibn Hanbal, Abu-l Hasan al-Ash`ari, Abu Mansur al-Maturidi, or Abu Hamid al-Ghazzali have risen to the occasion. While these challenges are unaddressed, still arguing Atharism over Ash`arism and vice-versa is to use what ...

A Brief Synopsis on The Polemics of Madhaabs

I wish to present this brief overview without getting into hardcore academic research as I type this from the comforts of my couch watching my baby as she plays with her toy set watching Docmcstuffins. I will proceed forth through a rhetorical question         "Is following a madhaab valid or invalid? Or is it acceptable? Or is it necessary (binding)?" The base ruling of this question that no qualified jurist will deviate from is that it is not only valid, but "acceptable". However, after following through this synopsis, one will come back to this base ruling and realize why this is an Islamic fact. These questions have become epic in our times for many reasons. These reasons boil down to two main diverging reasons. There is a third and I will identify it here, but I feel there is no need to elaborate it on 1. In the western world, the mode of learning and perceptions of authority along with a long history of questioning authority, due to roman catholic history, has...

Islamic Law Promotes Keeping The Trust Towards Warring Nations

One of the most prolific topics of our time that I personally feel needs to be shined in today's modern world given the phenomenal circumstances we find ourselves in today with the preposterous Hegelian dialectical battlefield known as the "War on Terror" all of which includes the proliferation of misinformation through psy-ops in media from both the extremists liberal side of western powers along with the extremists totalitarian pro-Najdi based militaristic Muslim groups and their supporters is the topic of how is the Muslim to treat the "infidel" or in a more normative fashion, what is the relationship and ethics of how Muslims are to treat non-Muslims in non-Muslim lands? That is the BIG question for the masses of common people. Typically the answers are skewed in rhetoric enveloped in extreme liberal dogma on the Muslim side or extremists rhetoric impugned on Muslims by the right wing factions in the American paradigm. This is actually quite simple in classi...

THE A-Z MANUAL FOR BRINGING A CLOSURE TO THE SOUTH ASIAN “HAYATI VERSUS MAMATI” TRAUMA.

THE A-Z MANUAL FOR BRINGING A CLOSURE TO THE SOUTH ASIAN “HAYATI VERSUS MAMATI” TRAUMA . Feb 6, 2013   By Ismail Ibrahim (This piece is based on a response given to a South African Mufti who ignorantly spoke out against anyone whom he perceived to be ‘Salafi’ towards the end of 2011)   A. For those who are caught up in it, this issue of contention needs no introduction.  The debate is South Asian in nature; its exportation is mainly down to migration . Ask an Arab or a Sub-Saharan African not caught up in this and they’ll express total ignorance over Hayati v. Mamati.    B. What I propose is that we need to  make a clean break from these useless, ambiguous, vague, non-universal terms of ‘Hayati v. Mamati’ , as they make no sense. One cannot hold a discussion, let alone a debate, if universal terms – let alone terms used by only in the polemics in one region of the Muslim world, like Hayati and Mamati – are not even defined. Yet it is a fact that both groups...

Observations Regarding Shaykh Muhammad Jibaly's Review of YQ'sArticle "On Salafi Islam"

بسم االله الرحمان الرحيم، و صلاة و سلام علي نبينا محمد و علي آله و صحبه اجمعين I have great respect for Shaykh Muhammad Jibaly and his mission in the field of d'awah which it wouldn't be extreme to say that it is unmatched by many. I have benefitted from him and his wonderfully moderate ways over the years. I hope and pray that Allah continues to benefit the ummah through him and that he is rewarded with the Mercy of Allah Subhaanahu As for the following expressions of which I choose to bring forth here, is centered specifically around his interpretation of Yasir Qadhi's article titled " On Salafi Islam " As for Yasir Qadhi's article, I knew from the get go that the following problems would happen from individuals who fundamentally have more of a party oriented perception of orthodox Islam (ahlu-sunnah, salafism, atharism) would fall into one or more of the following 1. Gross misrepresentation thereby causing a fallacy of false analogies. Primary to this is...
